Love these tutorials, thank you. I bought the 40D before my 1st wedding and used it, I am loving this series, here is a question regarding flash settings. You mentioned in E-TTL setting that evalutive is good for either bright or dark backgrounds; can you give me an example? Also, I have noticed that I cannot get my aperture lower than 4.0, what am I doing wrong?

Elizabeth -

I'll post a few flash-related tips soon, with specific examples of the different settings.

If your aperture won't go lower than 4.0, it's the limitation of your lens. I'm guessing you have the 17-85 EF-S lens?

When you look at the specs of a lens, and it says f4.0-5.6, that means that at the wide end, it can only go to f4.0, and on the telephoto end it can only go down to f5.6. A great lens to start out with for low light is the 50mm f1.8, or the 50mm f1.4 (we have the 1.4, it's a huge step up in quality!).

I'll post more later!
